Thor’s Chariot: We’re saved!

Stargate Command has made fewer powerful friends than powerful enemies over the course of the past 15 and a half seasons of the live-action franchise. Perhaps the most significant of those allies are the Asgard, conceptually introduced in SG-1 Season One’s “Thor’s Hammer,” but revealed with brute might in the Season Two episode “Thor’s Chariot.”
Thor, an alien being from beyond our galaxy, receives Daniel and Carter’s plea for help through the Cimmerian Hall of Thor’s Might, and comes rushing across the cosmos aboard his Asgard mothership to deal the Goa’uld Heru’ur a serious blow. In moments, the space ship Beliskner absorbs Heru’ur’s three motherships, and whole battalions of his Jaffa, while the cowardly god slinks away to another planet through the Stargate.
This image, an art-department-created black and white pencil sketch on vellum with black and white pencil sketch of Thor’s ship on high-quality paper attached, beautifully illustrates the climax of “Thor’s Chariot” with the arrival of the craft, moments before the Goa’uld forces are turned into a memory. Original concept art elements are blended with printed elements to create the scene.
