Propworx is extremely proud to offer a very special piece of Stargate memorabilia to fans this week: George Hammond’s hero wedding ring. We lost Don S. Davis to a heart attack in 2008, but small mementos like this prop will continue on in the hands of fans.
This ring was worn by actor Don S. Davis as “George Hammond” throughout his eight-season run on Stargate SG-1, and has consequently been weathered from production use. The ring is a size 14, and measures .85in x .25in.
Hammond’s wife died of cancer before the inception of the Stargate program, according to Jack O’Neill in Season One’s “Tin Man”. Hammond was one month from retirement when Apophis invaded Cheyenne Mountain Complex through the Stargate. This prompted him to become leader of the new Stargate Command organization, a position he held with distinction for eight years before transferring to Washington D.C.
The character, like Don, died of a heart attack (according to Samantha Carter in the Atlantis series finale). Production immortalized Mr. Davis’s contributions to the series by naming one of their Daedalus-class space ships after his character. The U.S.S. George Hammond was seen in the Stargate Universe pilot.
We’re making this ring available to a very special Don S. Davis fan this week only through our online auctions! Check out the eBay page now, and don’t forget to look over more than 100 other items available throughout the week!
