LOT 19 – SGC Stargate Segment with Earth Glyph

Propworx is very proud to be offering the signature set piece from Stargate SG-1, the Stargate segment containing the Earth Glyph!

The Stargates were an engineering marvel. The SGC and Atlantis Stargates were built in nine sections and then pieced together on set. If you look closely at the Chevron areas of the Gates you can see where these sections come apart right in the middle of each Chevron.  Four of the SGC Stargate lots we are offering in our auction include the parts making up the outer shell of a complete segment.

Lot 19 is extremely special. Included in this lot is the section of the rotating Glyph track containing the Earth symbol. The Earth symbol is extremely significant and is the seventh Glyph entered when dialing any Stargate address from Earth, the importance of which was discovered by Dr. Daniel Jackson in the Stargate feature film. The symbol itself was also worn as a patch on the uniforms of SGC personnel to identify their planet of origin on off world missions.

LOT 135: Ronon’s Gun and Holster with Knife
Propworx is very proud to be offering an extremely cool piece from Stargate Atlantis, Ronon Dex’s blaster, holster, and knife!

The blaster and knife in this lot are both made of rubber, and this particular blaster does not light up. Props created in this manner are often referred to as “stunt” versions. A common misconception is that stunt versions are only used by stunt people and are not considered “Hero” because the actor did not use them. Sometimes this is the case, but these same props are also used by the lead actors in scenes that are typically very physical and there is a high probability that the prop could be damaged, and most importantly, to keep everyone safe on set while playing out scenes with these weapons.

Included in the lot is also Ronon’s holster and knife sheath. Both are made out of beautiful, thick brown leather and their construction is of very high quality!

SGC Stargate Segment

Production Description
Almost complete section of the outer shell from the SGC Stargate, used in all ten seasons of Stargate SG-1, countless episodes of Stargate Atlantis, and the Stargate Universe episodes “Air, Part 1″, “Subversion”, and “Incursion, Part 1″. This section includes the constellations Equuleus, Aquarius, Pegasus, Sculptor and Pisces. This lot is missing the bumpy channel that runs around the outside of the Stargate.

Technical Description
Production-made fiberglass components painted black and gray, with numerous production-drilled holes. Plastic glyph track piece featuring five raised plastic glyphs and rubber accents. Two V-shaped symbols made of clear red resin and painted gray. Two chevrons, one is clear resin painted orange with a gray resin frame, the other is gray resin with a gray resin frame. The clear, orange chevron features a halogen light bulb secured by a metal bracket with reflective tin. Unit lights up via standard wall plug. Glyph track measures approx 81in x 12in. Chevron “Vs” measure 17in x 21in x 1in. Back panel measures approx. 73in x 28in x 4in. All components show wear from production use.

Production-made fiberglass panel painted black and gray, has several metal clips screwed to its face, measures approx. 73in x 28in x 4in.

These amazing lots are original hand-painted works of art created by production artist Ken Rabehl from the early seasons of Stargate SG-1.  Ken Rabehl’s work is well known among science fiction fans. His resume includes Stargate SG-1, Andromeda, Eureka, and the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica series. It is on Battlestar Galactica that Ken’s, possibly, most famous work was featured weekly, the Cylon War painting that hung on the wall of Commander Adama’s quarters during the four year run of the show.

Among the Rabehl paintings we are offering are concept paintings as well as paintings that appeared on screen. Lot 8 features three paintings from “Thor’s Hammer” that were shown to General Hammond and the SG-1 team by Daniel Jackson. These beautiful paintings depict events from the mythology of the Norse god Thor in an episode that introduced the actual Thor, a member of the alien race known as the Asgard.

Our former warehouse was 8,000 square feet and full of Stargate props, costumes, and set decoration. Among the thousands of objects brought down from Vancouver was a large stack of boxes full of Jaffa costumes. Little did we know that buried underneath that stack was something amazing.

Those who have followed the auctions from the start know we have sold quite a few Jaffa costumes in the last two years of Stargate auctions. Shortly after Live Auction 2, it was with great surprise and delight that our staffers uncovered a box of Jaffa armor unlike any we had previously seen. Inside this box wasn’t the typical silver and gold armor, but armor painted copper and blue!  Upon further investigation we found a production tag identifying this costume as none other than the Horus armor worn by Teal’c in the Stargate SG-1 Season 8 episode “Moebius: Part 1.”

We have some great pieces for sale, including TWO Jaffa warrior costumes, outfits worn by Michael Shanks as “Daniel Jackson” and Cliff Simon as “Baal”, a retired hero Zat Gun and even a hero Aurora stunner from the Atlantis Season Two episode, “Aurora”.
